New Home to School Transportation Service at SMUSD!
Thanks to new state funding, five schools have been selected in San Marcos Unified to offer free transportation for low-income families with students who live one mile or more from our school. The five schools are Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary, La Mirada Academy, Paloma Elementary, San Marcos Elementary, and Twin Oaks Elementary.

This means that if your household qualifies, and you live more than one mile away from your school, your child can take the school bus to and from school every day beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

How to Sign-Up for Home-to-School Transportation

To sign up for the new transportation service and to ensure you qualify, you will need to fill out an application form NOW AVAILABLE on the website here.
Additionally, there will also be a list of multiple bus stops for each school, so you will be able to choose the bus stop closest to your home. The Transportation team has selected these stops carefully to ensure they are convenient for everyone.

Can My Student Still Ride the Bus If We Don’t Qualify for Free Transportation?

We understand that not all families will meet the requirements for free transportation. If your student attends one of the five schools mentioned above but you don't qualify for free transportation service, there is an option to purchase bus passes. Please click here for bus pass purchase details.

If you have any questions, please call (760) 290-2670 to reach the SMUSD Transportation office.
